The mural was created by students in conjunction with artist Glenna Boltuch Avila with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The mural is titled: Light of Asia, Buddha Sakyamuni in Asian art.
Photograph caption reads: "An 8' x 15' colorful mural created by students of the Castelar School was unveiled. Twenty-seven sixth-grade students have created this mural on an outer wall adjacent to the school's entrance". Photograph dated: June 7, 1984.
