Photograph caption dated April 10, 1956 reads, "San Fernando's newest branch bank, San Fernando Valley Commercial and Savings, for which ground was broken today at 541 N. Maclay Ave., is expected to be opened for business within the next 90 days. D. P. Loomis, president of the parent bank located in Pacoima, with San Fernando City Mayor Dan G. Spencer, Dr. Everett Phillips, Guy Johnson, Hardiman Fowler and James Gorin, owner of the site, participated in ground breaking ceremonies to launch the project. Walter Schrein contractor, and representatives of most civic clubs, the Chamber of Commerce joined to congratulate Lommis [sic] and members of the board."
