Photograph article dated November 10, 1956 partially reads, "Charlie (Tombstone) Smith, California welterweight champion, shoots for his 13th straight ring triumph tonight at Hollywood Legion Stadium when he faces Timmie Jefferson in the 10-round main event...Tombstone, an ex-Navy pugilist, has won 19 out of his 22 ring efforts. The rangy 147-pounder has blossomed into one of the state's better prospects the past year in scoring wins over Charlie Sawyer, Dave Johnson, Hank Davis, Danny Perez, Woody Winslow and Giancarlo Garbelli. He captured the California welter crown recently at the Olympic by decisioning Dave Johnson in 12 rounds." Photograph caption reads, "Tombstone Smith fights Jefferson tonight." Photograph was also used in a 1958 article covering another fight against Armando Muniz at the Hollywood Legion Stadium.
