This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Text written on photo: "Rush work on stores Van Ness Avenue 1907." Text written to left: "Rush work on Stores Van Ness Avenue." Photo shows stores being constructed in the front yards of the houses on the west side of Van Ness between Geary and Post. Lumber is stacked on the sidewalk and halfway into the street. A man is driving his carriage out of one of the store fronts and toward Van Ness. While some of the people on the sidewalk appear to be actually working, the majority are spectators or passersby.
