The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph caption dated March 15, 1957 reads, "Practices teacher art - Joyce Levy, Pierce education major, practices teaching ability on Faye Moss, foreground, and Barbara Clink, Reseda High School students. Proposed expansion will make college full-fledged liberal arts institution in addition to its large agriculture program. College will be able to accommodate 4,500 day students, have 27 new classrooms, library, cafeteria and administration buildings and have four parking lots which will provide space for 2,400 cars."; See images #00135791 through #00135795 for all photos in this series.
