Description
Two women and a girl are depicted in a parlor. The woman on the left wears her hair up, decorated with beads. Her dress is green and white stripes with a ruched horizontal striped band halfway down the skirt. Her bodice is covered with rows of black and white ruffled lace with narrow black bows on the sleeves and the neck. The sleeves are three-quarter length, and she wears white gloves and bracelets on both arms. The girl in the center wears a white dress and veil for communion. Her lace veil is worn over a bonnet that ties beneath her chin. Her dress has a high neckline with a ruffle, plain collar and long full gathered sleeves. The sleeves and wide triangular yoke are trimmed with white on white trim, and she has a bow at her waist. The woman on the right sits on a sofa and wears a white bonnet with pink flowers and blue ribbon. Her dress is gray and has a blue bow at her collar. Her sleeves are long narrow Juliet sleeves with ruching at the cuff. Ruching also outlines her lapels, lappets over her skirt, and two rows on her skirt. She holds blue gloves in her left hand. All the skirts are very wide; it is the height of the crinoline fashion.
