Dated 1906 in written caption; estimate of 1908 based on completed buildings at Powell and Geary.
View looking west across Union Square with Dewey monument in center. St. Francis Hotel (center). Third wing on St. Francis has been completed. Numerous empty lots to the north towards Nob Hill. Cable cars seen on Geary (Geary Street Cable Railroad Co.) and Powell (United Railroads).
