Photograph article dated April 25, 1963 partially reads, "A giant rocket engine on a test stand in the Santa Susana Mountains throws off a tremendous blast of flames and noise while engineers of Rocketdyne watch and evaluate its performance. One of the men is concentrating on the engine's performance, and he no doubt is marveling at the brilliant colors of the exhaust flame, and wondering how they would look in his next painting. The man interested in the colors is 32-year-old Robert Byron of Woodland Hills, head of Technological Development for Rocketdyne, a division of North American Aviation Co. He is also one of the thousands of weekend artists in the Valley." Byron relaxes with paints as Mrs. Byron watches abstract take shape.; See images #00118329 through #00118331 for all photos in this series.
