Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Not long after Barry filed the first paternity suit against Chaplin, federal prosecutors brought Mann Act charges against Charlie Chaplin in relation to Barry; he was acquitted. Photograph caption dated January 20, 1944 reads, "Chaplin's ex-prote´ge´ tells story of arrest to federal grand Jury."
