Photograph caption dated February 16, 1987 reads, "Volunteers work to recover the body of a person killed when a light plane crashed into a rugged hillside near Newhall. The victim, presumed to be the pilot of the single-engine Cessna 180, was found yesterday inside the cockpit by a sheriff's rescue team sent to search for survivors after the wreckage was discovered about 10 a.m. The plane had crashed about one-half mile north of the Golden State Freeway and just east of the Antelope Valley Freeway. Federal Aviation Administration officials said no details about when the plane might have crashed or what caused the accident was immediately available."
