Description
This 1933 picture shows a mass meeting of Hunger Marchers at City Plaza before a delegation was to march to the Capitol. The marchers were there to demand relief measures from the State Legislature in light of the Depression. The relief measures included payments of $50, and social as well as unemployment insurance. It also called for a moratorium on taxes, as well as foreclosures on small farms, evictions of tenants for overdue rent and stoppage of utilities due to overdue bills.
