Description
Photograph dated 1887 used for an article dated July 9, 1954; the caption reads, "Olive Avenue, shown here looking east toward mountains as country road, has come a long way since this photo in 1887, year Providencia Land, Water and Development Co. was established townsite of Burbank. In 1887 and 1888 town enjoyed rapid growth, but depression and drought joined hands in 1889, causing 20-year period of 'bust.' City was revived in 1911, year of incorporation."
