Description
The caption on this Malibu landscape photograph dated September 13, 1910, reads "At Miner's house looking West of North looking toward J G Newell house." Although no structures appear in the image, the name Miner may refer to Frank D. Miner, part of a group of "automobilists" that challenged May Rindge's private road claim at about this time. One of Miner's co-defendants was William B. Newell, although a J. G. Newell does appear in the newspapers of this time, described as an "early pioneer" of Southern California. The exact location is not known, although the area around Puerco Canyon is likely. This print is part of a series mounted on paper with captions that includes files mtp00035 through mtp00041. complete;
