Victor Villaseñor discusses his book, “Thirteen Senses.” He says the book follows the first years of his parents, Salvador and Lupe’s marriage. Villaseñor talks about his father’s interactions with an avocado farmer and how they helped shape his view of people. He says he interviewed family members for the book and charted the information that overlapped. Villaseñor goes on to talk about his grandmothers, the sixth and seventh senses, the importance of women in the family, his father’s smuggling of Chinese from Mexicali into California, and bootleggers.
