Photograph has tear to upper right corner. Allison and Allison designed the 1921 Burbank High School, located at 902 N. Third Street. In 2001, the architectural firm of gkkworks undertook a modernization project: the First Phase included an administration and classroom building and library; Phase Two involved demolishing existing classroom buildings and building a new gymnasium, swimming pool, and parking structure with tennis courts on the roof. The 1,300-seat auditorium was preserved and renovated. Photograph caption dated October 17, 1950 reads, "Burbank High School, dignified and commodious unit of the public school system of Burbank and goal of the more than 14,000 enrollees. Its graduates are hailed as coming from one of the finest public education plants in the West, where good teaching and parent understanding are the rule."; See images #00117114 through #00117115 for all photos in this series.
