Description
Biography/History: California Senator Alan Cranstron (left) receiving the Troy C. Daniels Medal from William Bacon, an alumnus of the University of California, San Francisco, School of Pharmacy and chairman of the award selection committee. Cranston was awarded the medal by the UCSF School of Pharmacy in honor of his extraordinary service to the profession of pharmacy. The medal was presented at a dinner in Senator Cranston's honor on Thursday, January 9, 1986, at the Hyatt on Union Square in San Francisco. The dinner immediately preceded the annual meeting of the California Pharmacists Association. Senator Cranston was selected because of his support of the development of clinical pharmacy education nationwide. This training has enabled pharmacists to become more directly involved in the drug therapy of patients in hospitals, outpatient clinics and community pharmacies.
