3 images. Atomic blast near Las Vegas, Nevada, November 5, 1951, 14 November 1951. Color transparencies sent in by Associated Press, New York. Supplementary material reads: "Atomic Energy - Nevada test. For use anytime. Caption information for duplicate color transparencies on November 5 atomic blast near Las Vegas, Nevada. These pictures were taken with a 12-inch lens on a Speed Graphic at 1/25th of a second at F8, from a position of 8,000 feet elevation on Mt. Charleston, about 50 miles from the scene of the blast at Yucca Flat, and about 44 road miles northwest of Las Vegas. Views look north-northwest. No. 1 shot shows the small fireball at the outset of the blast caused by the dropping of a bomb from a B-28 plane. No. 2 shot shows the mushrooming cloud as it formed, about one minute after the blast. No. 3 shot shows the big cloud breaking up in the middle, with big white puff atop it, as it began to disintegrate, about three minutes after the blast. This was the fifth and biggest atomic blast in the series that took place late in October and early in November. The Associated Press, New York. November 14, 1951."
