Photo shows a cross and a small sculpture of Jesus and St. Peter embedded in the upper wall of the main entrance to St. Peter Catholic Church, located at 338 N. Grand Ave. in the city of San Pedro. Built in the Spanish Colonial style, the church is painted cream-color with dark brown trim and a dark brown roof. Telephone lines can be seen crossing diagonally.; The Apostle Peter, also known as St. Peter and Simon Peter, is often depicted in the Gospels as the chief spokesman of the Apostles, and the one to whom Jesus himself personally installed as Head of the Apostles and gave special authority to. It is written that on various occasions, Peter spoke in the name of the other Apostles. The Roman Catholic Church considers Simon Peter a saint and associates him with the foundation of the Church in Rome. In more modern times, St. Peter is depicted as the "keeper of the keys of the kingdom of heaven", and is often thought of as an elderly, bearded man who sits at the pearly gates that serve as heaven's main gate, and personally interviews prospective entrants into Heaven.
