Description
1989-1313. In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 44. Corner view of a lot with a huge Victorian building on the corner; the entrance is on the left side of the corner with a covered porch; the building is 3 stories, the 3rd floor being rooms underneath a mansard roof; from the roof rises a square tower with windows; other buildings flank this large one; cars are parked diagonally on the right and parallel on the left side of the corner; a leafless tree borders the image on the left and a tree beginning to acquire leaves stands to the right in the front of the building. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Old Geo. W. Chesley home in 1885. Later the home of David Lubin until 1894. Erected about 1881. Mr. Chesley was a 'wholesale liquor dealer'."
