Description
2018-1913. Bust-length portrait. Born in Oakland in 1938, Jean attended UC, Berkeley and Stanford from which she received a nursing degree. Worked for Santa Clara County Health Dept., Santa Cruz County Health Dept. and Placer County Health Dept. before accepting teaching position in School of Nursing, California State University, Sacramento in 1971. In 1976 became lobbyist for California Nurses Association and in 1978, was elected to Assembly from Fifth Assembly District. A Republican, she switched to Democratic Party in 1981 and continued to serve until 1986 when she decided to leave Assembly to focus on lobbying and speaking career.
