Description
Warner Wright, 1864-1920, patriarch of the African-American family of Wrights. Born a slave in 1864 Louisiana. Earned a college degree in 1888 from the historic black Louisiana college Leland University. A high school teacher and principal, he moved his wife and eight children to Los Angeles for health reasons. Photograph of original oval photograph. Head shot. Wright has a moustache and is wearing a suit. He is probably in his 30's.
