Description
This photograph of Babcock's was taken on Feb. 28, 1951. Owned by Otis D. Babcock, the store sold automobile tires, batteries and other devices, as well as home electrical appliances. Babcock also practiced law, as indicated by a sign in the upper window to the right of the photograph that reads, "Otis D. Babcock Attorney at Law." The World War I veteran and graduate of Drake University Law School ran for Nevada County Superior Court Judge in 1970, but lost. He retired and later died in 1991 at the age of 101.
