Description
Photograph of a view of Times Square and the New York Theatrical District at night, New York, 1927. Tire tracks and railway lines stripe the bare street which runs through the bright city. Tall buildings with monstrous billboards advertise on either side of the street while a thin strip of glaring billboards stands at center, splitting the wide street into two. Automobiles stand parked on either side of the street while people crowd the sidewalks. The faint profile of a man in uniform can be seen in the middle of the street in the foreground. Caption reads "Times Square and the New York Theatrical District at night. A typical view of New York's night life".
