San Diego High School's shooting team, which received the William Randolph Hearst R.O.T.C. silver plaque for winning second place in the Ninth Corps Area junior division in the annual rifle match, is shown here, justly proud of the award as the result of their prowess. Left to right, Roy F. Walker, promotion manager of The Evening Herald and Express, who read the personal message from William Randolph Hearst, donor of the awards; Gerald Lane, winner of a leather wallet for making highest individual score in the district; James Dalby, Scott Peck, and Sergeant Ivan Hoffman, instructor of the squad.
