Photograph caption dated August 17, 1959 reads, "Mrs. Howard Mulder, right, president of the Volunteer League of San Fernando Valley, presents check to Martin Pollard, president of the Valley Presbyterian Hospital board for the hospital's 'Phase Two' building fund. Center is Mrs. Marvin T. Smith Jr., chairman of clubs, organizations and sororities section of the hospital's current fund-raising project of $600,000 to complete four-story addition to the Van Nuys medical center. The League has contributed more than $6,000 to the hospital during the past year and a half."
