Photograph caption date stamped September 1, 1956 reads, "'Hard luck' driver in Coast late model stock car racing is Dick Getty, Pacoima, who's usually up close but runs into one type of mechanical failure or another that keeps him out of the winner's circle. He was fourth recently at Gardena Stadium and returns there tomorrow night in his 1956 Chevrolet. His mount is sponsored by Valleywide Spring and Shock Works, 14942 Delano St., Van Nuys."
