Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated November 5, 1962 partially reads, "Teen-age merchants at Valley high schools in the Los Angeles City School system get a chance at practical experience when they work in their student stores. Professional managers are available to help business education students learn the ropes about stocking supplies, ordering, accounting and bookkeeping, selling and managing. Stores supply such necessary items as paper, pencils and other school supplies, as well as candy and popcorn, school rings and emblems and tickets to special events. Students at Polytechnic High School (pictured) have an additional advantage to those at many schools: they get paid for their work. The Poly store is open throughout the school day, but many only open before school, during lunch and nutrition periods and after school...Football season is a busy time for Stern...when he sells tickets in the student store."; See images #00127842 through #00127845 for all photos in this series.
