A Contra soldier sits in front of a house looking to his left at El Porvenir Farm, located two kilometers from the Honduras-Nicaragua border in June 1983. His Belgian FN FAL assault rifle resting on his right leg while he steps on a torn book. He is wearing a fisherman's hat with a blue-and-white patch that reads "FDN," which identifies him as a member of the Nicaraguan Democratic Force (FDN in Spanish). The doors of the house are painted with graffiti and one of the messages reads, "long live FDN." Members of the FDN are informally known as " Contras." Un soldado contra yace sentado mirando hacia la izquierda en frente de una casa en la granja El Porvenir, localizada a dos kilómetros de la frontera entre Honduras y Nicaragua en junio de 1983.
