In PHOTO ALBUM-VAULT: ** fc917.9461 A3, Vol. I, page 331 bottom.
This photograph is contained in one of two volumes by Dobbin titled "Album of San Francisco."
Text written to right of photo: "Majestic and The Princess Theatres & majestic Theatre Eddy St. near Fillmore 1909." Written to left, with arrow: "Orphuem [sic] after fire 1906." These theaters were actually on the south side of Ellis between Fillmore and Steiner, according to "Good Life in Hard Times" by Jerry Flamm, and the 1912 "Exposition City" panorama. Several horse-drawn wagons are pulled up in front. A man in suit, tie and hat is close up at extreme left. It appears that some work is being done on the lobby of the Princess. The Majestic, as per the caption, has "Orpheum" lettered on its awning; according to the panorama this theater was later known as the Garrick.
