Description
Photograph of an exterior view of an office and building of the Bixel Distillery, Columbia, 1894. A few garments hang on the porch just outside the door of the office structure that resembles a house. The windows of the office view a small desk with several chairs which are also on the porch. Supplies such as barrels, jugs and ladders sit against the brick wall of the abutting building. The building sits at the foot of the dry hill behind it and is a great deal taller than the office. Trees in front and just next to the two structures shade the yard in the foreground, but shade the structures only slightly. Picture file card reads "Built about 1856. At one time, 28 men worked here making brandies".
