Description
Unidentified man seated at a Marconi wireless telegraph station, with notepad and pencil in hand, on ship board, around 1911. As early as 1910, many of the young men and women who learned Morse code as "hams" (amateurs unaffliated with a company) also understood the complicated apparatus, filing a growing need for both commercial and naval operators to install, operate, and repair this equipment on ships and at remote stations.
