Description
Photograph article dated March 1, 1950 partially reads, "An original photograph of the Great Emancipator, Abraham Lincoln, is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Humphrey of 13816 Judd St., Pacoima. The treasure, including an original copy of a land grant and other historical tidbits was rescued from a trash fire on a farm near Quincy, Ill., by Mrs. Humphrey. The Lincoln print, according to well preserved information on its reverse side, was made by the photography firm of Reed and Humphrey, then pioneer makers of Daguerreotypes. Photograph caption reads, "Signed by President - James Monroe, fifth president of the United States, signed this land grant for a soldier in War of 1812. It is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Humphrey of Pacoima."; See image #00135274 for additional photo in this series.
