Description
Created in circa 1933, this privately-produced black and white photo postcard circa features 14 young students from Bret Harte Elementary School dressed in kimonos. Some of the girls sport fancy combs or accessories in their hair and a boy and girl stand in the back with arms folded while a boy with a long pointer stands to attention on the far side. Opened in 1923, Bret Harte Elementary School at Seventh Avenue and Franklin Boulevard was among 20 schools determined to have structural damage by 1970 and one of 10 recommended for repair, rehabilitation or replacement.
