Description
"Ein vorläufiges Krankenhaus" ( A temporary hospital"). Photograph of Nurse Elisabeth Vierhub [?] with 12 African men, women and children. They are sitting and standing in front of 2 thatched buildings. In the background banana groves can be seen.

Elisabeth Vierhub (1873-1964), from former Prussia in Poland, served the Leipzig Mission as a nurse. From 1910 to 1912 she was in Moshi, afterwards in Machame. 1919 to 1925 she lived in Germany, then she went back to Machame. In 1928 she assumed control over the girls‘ school in Moshi.
