Description
Kern River & Borel Transmission Line - A man standing in the special Kern River 60 KV tower at the San Fernando Substation, showing an Operator's Cottage next to Substation. [spindly looking tower built by a local windmill manufacturer carries power from Kern River into Los Angeles. Built in 1906, the record setting 117-mile long, 75kV transmission line was the first in nation to be carried entirely on steel support towers. (wam)]
