Description
Photograph of a view of Mount Davidson and Virginia, Nevada, ca.1930. Wood debris is scattered in the foreground while what appears to be a part of a steel tunnel stands on the left with a wood frame at the opening and a crater in front of it. At center a lightly-colored structure stands on a brick base that has been damaged. Several other instruments sit in the dirt field and what appears to be raised tracks sit behind them. In the background the wooden houses of the town stand amongst many trees at the base of Mount Davidson. "Its altitude is 7,827 feet. Mark Twain refers to it in some of his stories".
