Description
Photograph of the Redondo Hotel and gardens, ca.1900. Looking southeast up a long walkway to the hotel. Several people are standing in the gardens and on the path. The majestic three-story hotel is Victorian in design. A flag is flying in the distance. "Hotel Redondo 1890-1925. Messrs. Thompson and Ainsworth from Portland Oregon formed the Redondo Hotel Company. They received a 22 acre tract from the Dominguez Sisters for $5.00. The hotel was opened May1, 1890. There were 225 rooms and a bath on each floor. The Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego is a sister operation built at the same time. The hotel was closed in 1925 and sold for $200.00, for scrap lumber." -- unknown author.
