John Factor Watts Community Center, a rendering by Architect Carey K. Jenkins. The $1 million community center is proposed for a 2 and 3/4 acre site at Imperial Highway and Lou Dillon Avenue in Watts. Beverly Hills businessman-philanthropist John Factor will deed upon completion to the First A.M.E. Church of Los Angeles, Rev. H.H. Brookins, pastor. Main increment is 14,000 sq. ft. circular assembly hall which will seat 250 for dining, 700 for community gatherings and films, and 1,000 for dancing. Skylight will provide natural illumination during the day while electric lights will beam toward aperture at night, creating a natural beacon. Architect Jenkins says the complex, which includes 108 parking spaces, doctor-dentist facilities, crafts and physical activities center, has been designed with a "spirit of brotherhood" in mind.
