Description
William Haas was born in Bavaria and immigrated to San Francisco in the 1860s. He worked in the wholesale grocery business. In addition to being a well-known philanthropist, Haas held posts as a director of Wells Fargo, as president of Mt. Zion hospital, and on the Board of arbitration of the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce. Haas married Bertha Greenebaum in 1880 and had three children: Charles, Alice, and Florine. Collection consists of home movies taken between 1927 and 1987 by various descendants of the Haas/Lilienthal family. Collection includes films in various formats chronicling family trips in the US and abroad, and documenting various family events. Note on original reels: Reel 1: "1927 - Jan 1st to July 4th". Reel 2: "1927 - July 4th to Aug 14th".
