Original print has visible crease down middle. The Clarence W. Pierce School of Agriculture is a two-year community college in Woodland Hills, California. It opened in September 1947, with 70 students and 18 faculty members and is part of the Los Angeles Community College District. The school's initial focus was crop cultivation and animal husbandry, and still retains a large swatch of open fields for hands-on working farm training. In 1956 the school was renamed Los Angeles Pierce College. Photograph article dated June 15, 1962 partially reads, "Dr. A. Ewing Konold told a Pierce College commencement audience Thursday night that man must not forget human values in this age of science. Meanwhile, Valley College graduates were encouraged by Dr. Stafford L. Warren, dean of UCLA's Medical School, 'not to crouch in terror, but stand up and look at life.' More than 750 students received associate in arts degrees during the graduation ceremonies held in stadiums at the two colleges."
