View of a building on a corner; building is 2 stories with a 1st floor block which stands in front of the rest of the building and which has an awning in front with a sign for "McCurry's" above the awning; 2nd floor has 6 vertical rectangular windows; slightly behind this first building is another two story building with vertical windows on 2nd floor on left; at extreme left is a one story cut off by photo; a "X" sign is in front of a tree at extreme left.
Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento.
"Building is now occupied by McCurry Photo Shop was erected in 1860. Lower story was the original level of the streets before the flood of 1861-62."
