Description
This circa-1985 photograph shows Sacramento City Councilman Joe Serna posing for a photograph with several children and adults at the Oak Park Branch of the Sacramento City Library, located at 3301 Fifth Ave. Just a few years after this photograph was taken, declining circulation would force the closure of the Oak Park Branch and its consolidation – with two other branches – into the Colonial Heights Branch which opened in 1989. Serna would go on to be Sacramento’s mayor from 1993 to 1999.
