Photograph of Mission San Gabriel bell tower before pepper trees were cut down, ca.1890. There are four bells in the tower but, apparently, space for six. A person in light shirt and dark pants is standing at a low wall at the base of the bell tower with his left hand on the wall. To the left of the bell tower, a sloping roof can be seen. Vines growing along the side of the building are visible reaching the top of the roof. A large tree is partial seen to the right.
