Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated October 27, 1955 reads, "Administration building above is center for 120 youths housed at McKinley Home For Boys in Van Nuys. McKinley is haven for boys from broken homes. Institution was founded in Artesia in 1900 by the Rev. Euriah Gregory and his wife moved to Valley in 1922. Purchase of original 160-acre site and construction of buildings were financed with $200,000 donation by M. H. Whittier, Southland oilman and Los Angeles Kiwanis Club. In 1944 home sold 105 acres of site to subdivider and county flood control district for $200,000. Money went into home's building rehabilitation fund.
