Description
Kate Moses discusses her book, “Wintering.” She begins by explaining that the book is a novel about Sylvia Plath and her life. Moses explores the difficulty of being both an artist and a mother and how Plath struggled to balance these two roles in her life. She then discusses Plath’s husband Ted Hughes and their relationship as a couple and as poets. Moses also discusses in detail the life and career of Sylvia Plath. She explains that Plath was the daughter of well-educated immigrant parents. She attended Smith University where she had a nervous breakdown and attempted suicide. She goes on to discuss Plath’s poetry and Ted Hughes’ affair that led to the end of their marriage. Later in the interview she reads aloud from her work.
