Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Jesse Donald "Don" Knotts was born on July 21, 1924 in Morgantown, West Virginia. He was a comedian best known as Barney Fife on the 1960s television sitcom "The Andy Griffith Show." He won five Emmy Awards for this role. He also played Ralph Furley, landlord on the television sitcom "Three's Company." Knotts also starred in feature films and was a frequent guest on other television programs. He died on February 24, 2006. First photograph caption dated May 27, 1963 reads "Best supporting role." Knotts won for his role as Barney Fife on 'The Andy Griffith Show.'" The 15th Emmy Awards ceremony was held at The Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.; Second photograph caption dated January 4, 1964 reads "Emmy winner plays a fish (!) in the new Arthur Lubin comedy." The article partially reads "'Mr. Limpet' is an unusual, off-beat film about a man--Don Knotts--who has an affinity for water but he's 4-F and can't swim--yet he wants to join the U.S. Navy."
