Description
Photograph of Marengo Street west from Chicago Street after widening and paving, September 1935. In the extreme foreground at center, a wide street can be seen. Originally, the street slightly curved and only allowed a single lane of traffic to travel in each direction. The newly paved road now shows two lanes of traffic in both directions. On the right, wooden utility poles can be seen near a line of homes. To the left, a line of larger, metal utility poles can be seen near a small wine shop and other structures. At least five automobiles, including a bus near the wine shop, can be seen traveling on the road.
