Presidential Candidate Ángel Aníbal Guevara's holds a microphone as he speaks in front of a crowd of a large crowd at a rally during election week. On March 8, 1982 Guevara won the presidential election although electoral fraud was claimed by other parties. A military coup prevented Guevara from assuming power and installed a three-man junta headed by General Efraín Ríos Montt.
