Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated September 2, 1959 reads "During Army Reserve summer maneuvers at Camp Roberts one of combat training problems was ambush by U.S. troops of Aggressor troop convoy. Valley Times photos show U.S. soldiers rushing from hillside concealment down onto the road 'deep within enemy territory' to capture, if possible, remaining survivors. Hoping to obtain important documents carried by officer in charge of convoy, U.S. soldiers set up roadblock to halt trucks, then raked road with machine gun, rifle fire and detonated planted explosives. Getting desired documents from 'dead' officer, troops began quick but methodical search of each enemy soldier in hopes of obtaining other official papers or personal letters which might indicate future enemy movements."; See images #00121823 through #00121829 for all photos in this series.
