Here he served as Pastor together with Japanese colleagues, and from 1992-96 as the only Pastor at Sendai Church in the Northern Japan. From 1996-98 he worked at the Centre for Study of Japanese Religions, and continued as part-time Pastor of the 3 Lutheran churches at Kyoto, as well).
